WATER LEVELS
It is always a good idea to check the water level of the streams you plan to fish. For example, the Meramec River drains a very large area and can get a 10 foot plus rise. The Big Piney River can also get a tremendous rise on it. The smaller streams have the potential to get flash floods. They come up very fast but they also go down very fast. If you are not sure about the water levels, drop me an e-mail or call, I will be glad to give you any information I have.
USGS Map of Missouri with current stream flows. Toggle over the river measuring locations ( dots ) to get the most current information. This map does not list the names of the rivers on the map. You will need to know the general area of the river you are searching. If you make an imaginary "X" from St. Louis to the southwest corner of the state and Kansas City to the Bootheel of the state you will find streams in the Rolla area. http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/?m=real&r=mo

If you are a catch and release fisherman, like I am, you can still get an estimated weight for your fish by measuring the length and girth and applying the correct formula. trout weight = (length x girth x girth) / 800. bass weight = (length x length x girth) / 1,200.
OR you can click on this link and input your measurements and it will be calculated for you : csgnetwork.com/fishfreshwtcalc.html
